The project consists of the construction of the first phase of a new container terminal at the port of Cádiz to accommodate future traffic growth.

Environmental aspects
The project falls under Annex II of EU EIA Directive and, as such, is required to comply with the requirements of the EU EIA Directive 85/337/EC, amended by Directives 97/11/EC and 2003/35/EC. The container terminal has been the subject of a full EIA, which included environmental impact studies and public consultation.
Procurement
The Bank will require the Promoter to ensure that contracts for the implementation of the project have been/shall be tendered in accordance with the relevant applicable EU procurement legislation (Directive 2004/17/EC), with parallel publication of tender notices in the EU Official Journal, as and where appropriate.
