European Investment Bank President Werner Hoyer is delighted to host Africa Day 2017 together with Afrika-Verein Chairman Stefan Liebing on 6 July in Berlin this year.
EIB Africa Day has been well established as an effective and integrative platform throughout Europe and Africa over the past years. After partnering with the African Development Bank in 2016 hosting around 300 high level participants from across Africa and Europe in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, the 2017 edition of Africa Day will take place in Berlin, Germany, in partnership with Afrika-Verein, the German-African Business Association.
This year, we will explore the role of digitalisation around private sector development and investment in Africa. We continue to speak of Africa’s potential, and yet the continent is facing challenges that will impact upon everyone. At our event on the eve of the G20 conference in Hamburg, we will strive to identify opportunities in creating the right conditions for sustainable development in Africa, and how to bring financing where it is currently not available. By taking these steps, we can enable a young population to have the opportunities to flourish, now and in the future.
To reach out to the young, ambitious and innovative Africa, we will seek to answer questions and hold discussions on how the digital age is influencing Africa’s development, and how all stakeholders can boost Africa by working together to create a real impact on the ground.
High level speakers from Europe as well as Africa will share their experiences of doing business in Africa and where they see potential for innovation and growth. They will come from all sectors and backgrounds. Africa Day 2017 is designed to be a platform for sharing and discussion and networking. Together we can find different ways to have real impact for Africa in Africa.
