The EIB Group (EIB, EIF and EIB Institute) is sponsoring the first European Microfinance Day (EMD) organised by the European Microfinance Network and the Microfinance Center under the aegis of the Luxembourg presidency of the European Union, which aims to raise awareness on microfinance as a tool to fight social exclusion and unemployment in Europe.
As part of this event, the EIB Institute is organising a workshop on “Regulations and laws for microfinance in the EU: the current situation and the opportunities for improvement”, in Brussels on 20 October.
Speakers will be Claudia Belli-Jeanteur (BNP Paribas), Anne Contreras (Arendt & Medernach), Andrea Maier (European Commission), Lucija Popovska (Habitat for Humanity International and Board member of the Microfinance Centre) and Corrado Ferretti, (PerMicro and Board member and Secretary General of the European Microfinance Network) and the moderator will be Per-Erik Eriksson (European Investment Fund).
