Description
This is the first publication about the Water Sector Fund, a trust fund established by the European Investment Bank and the government of the Netherlands in 2017, to support the development of water projects in developing countries.
Water sector actors in target countries often face financial challenges and limited management capacity when building water sector infrastructure. With the help of donors, the Water Sector Fund seeks to address these obstacles by supporting innovative water projects and integral water management systems whilst contributing to the United Nations 6th Sustainable Development Goal: “Water for All”.
The European Investment Bank is the largest lender to the global water sector. Our total lending for water projects over the past six decades amounts to more than €80 billion for over 1 600 projects.
