Traineeship Programme for Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries

Our Traineeship Programme for MENA and ACP countries aims to promote knowledge exchange and support the development of young professionals in these regions. Here are the highlights of the programme:

  • The programme provides trainees with opportunities to gain experience working in an international environment and raise awareness of the European Investment Bank (EIB) activities and opportunities.
  • We aim to build strong partnerships with regions outside the European Union, taking a holistic view towards supporting their development.
  • Upon returning to their home regions, trainees from these regions can contribute to promoting economic and social progress.

The programme, funded by the Government of Luxembourg under the EIB’s Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF) seeks candidates with backgrounds in economics, finance, law, and engineering.

Eligibility to apply

  • You are a student or recent graduate, with less than two years of relevant experience.
  • You are a national of the MENA/ACP region*.
  • You are proficient in English and/or French.
  • You hold a degree from or are in the last year of a Higher Education Institution programme of a MENA/ACP partner country.

What we offer

  • A flat-rate monthly allowance to assist with living costs .
  • Reimbursement of travel expenses (one round trip from/to the point of origin/residence for up to six months traineeship or two in the case of twelve month assignments).

Please note that trainees will be responsible for their own accommodation costs. Each successful candidate will commit to a minimum of six months and a maximum of twelve months in the programme, to be spent at our headquarters in Luxembourg.

How to apply

  • Check our job portal.
  • Select “ Traineeship & GRAD programmes” under the section ‘Job category’ on the left sidebar of the page.
  • Respond to the FIF traineeship opportunities by submitting your application online.

Please keep the following points in mind:

  • The programme is usually announced approximately eight months prior to the intake.
  • We have one intake per year starting either on 1 September or on 1 October.
  • We can only consider applications in response to an advertised opportunity so bookmark our page and make sure you check in around the announcement dates!
