The European Council maps out the main guidelines for the Union's internal and external policies. The Bank helps, when relevant, to prepare the work of the European Council and informs it of the EIB’s contribution to EU objectives and policies. Over the past few years the EIB has also been contributing to economic and financial recovery efforts in the European Union and has growth and employment in Europe as a key objective.
