Oliver Russmann joined the European Investment Bank (EIB) as Director General and Group Chief Financial Controller on 1 October 2024.
He has over three decades of experience in senior finance leadership roles in various global institutions, with a track record in managing complex financial operations, regulatory compliance and strategic financial planning.
He previously served as CFO Germany at Citigroup Global Markets Europe AG in Frankfurt from 2015 to 2024, becoming a member of the Management Board in January 2019. In this role, he oversaw corporate treasury, regulatory reporting, accounting and tax compliance while leading strategic initiatives.
Before his time at Citigroup, Oliver held senior roles at JPMorgan AG, Credit Suisse and Commerzbank AG, where he managed finance functions, developed strategic plans and led financial restructuring and regulatory reporting efforts. His leadership in these organisations has included overseeing corporate treasury, tax compliance and financial controls for major legal entities in Europe.
He holds a master’s degree in Economics, Monetary Theory and Statistics from the University of Giessen.
