As in previous years, the European Investment Bank (EIB) organised its annual economics conference in Luxembourg. This year’s event, which was organised by the EIB in collaboration with The European Money and Finance Forum, short SUERF, was entitled ‘Financing Productivity Growth in Europe’.
In three panel sessions, speakers and participants shared their views on the factors that are holding down investment in Europe, the structural and post crisis challenges for the European financial sector, the impact of banking regulation and the capital market union, and analysed the nature of constraints for investment. The conference also presented an opportunity to discuss the preliminary results of the new unique survey on investment, run by the EIB.
This event brought together high-level policymakers, economists and leading market players, to openly discuss one of the most pressing and challenging economic policy topics today and to help shape increased successful policy responses.
The Economics Department provides economic analysis and studies to support EIB operations and to help define the bank’s positioning, strategy and policy. For more information on the Economic Department, click here.
