The European Investment Bank will organize a Civil Society Meeting in Istanbul on 21 October 2010, afternoon. The EIB has been active in Turkey for more than 45 years throughout all key sectors of the country's economy. The EIB is thus pleased to launch for the first-time in Turkey a general platform to engage with civil society, furthering a constructive dialogue and co-operation between the Bank and local, as well as regional civil society organizations.
The session provides an opportunity to learn about the Bank's activities. It also aims at raising awareness of its role and impact, while enabling an open and frank exchange of views, discussing topics of common interest, as well as allowing the Bank to be informed about objectives and activities of civil society organizations as critical partners and builders of social capital of the country.
The event will be chaired by the EIB management committee member responsible for relations with civil society organizations and external communication, Vice President Philippe de Fontaine Vive. Mr Yavuz Canevi, management committee member of the Economic Development Foundation of Turkey, will be the keynote speaker. The session is organized on the occasion of EIB's regional forum on 22 October 2010 in Istanbul.
