Recent extraordinary shocks have strongly impacted investment needs and the investment environment in Europe. Policy measures in the past three years have also been unprecedented. In an environment characterised by high uncertainty and by an increased focus on strategic autonomy, investment priorities for Europe will strike the balance between productive investment, meeting net-zero goals and optimising global value-chains.

The discussion over this two days conference covered the broad theme of the new environment for firm-level investment and strategies resulting from the recent crises, ongoing geopolitical tensions, and possible changes to global value chains, the investment needs resulting from breakthrough innovations in pursuit of a greener and more digital economy as well as policy implications.
