The European Investment Bank and the Österreichische Nationalbank hosted a hybrid seminar, "Financing the Transition to Net-Zero".

The EU’s ambitious climate policy goals require a significant transformation of our modes of production: zero-emission energy sources, clean transport systems and new green technologies. These changes call for substantial investments which need to be funded by the financial sector. As of today, an overwhelming majority of Austrian firms is investing to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and to minimize its waste, as the EIB finds in its Investment Survey

The conference took stock of the climate-related risks and opportunities facing firms and the necessary financing needs for green investments. A high-level panel of experts discussed the implications of this extensive transformation, in terms of policy measures and its effects on the competitiveness of the EU and the Austrian economy.
