During this event, we launched the Gender Lens Climate Financing Investing Guide by the 2X Gender and Climate Finance Taskforce. The taskforce is an initiative powered by the European Investment Bank, CDC Group, the UK’s development finance institution, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to leverage the power of gender-smart investments for climate action.
Investments that integrate both gender and climate lenses have started to proliferate, in a field that grows fast. Bringing together the gender and climate objectives can act as an impact amplifier rather than a trade-off, while mitigating market, operating and reputational risks: the two goals are strengthened and stronger business outcomes are delivered. Gender-smart climate investing is smart business and can deliver both significant climate outcomes and gender equality.
The three institutions have co-developed the Guide, which provides extensive tools and analysis, as well as relevant case studies, to support investors in identifying opportunities and mitigating risks in gender and climate financing. It also includes sector specific and thematic guidance notes to help investors mainstream gender in their climate finance investments. The launch event was an opportunity to bring together investors, government representatives, members of civil society, and other stakeholders to further exchange global and regional progress on gender and climate.
