With effect from 9 October 2014, Mr Antti Rinne, Minister of Finance in Finland, has been appointed EIB Governor for Finland, succeeding Mr Jan Vapaavuori.
Since 6 June 2014, Mr Rinne has been serving as Minister deputising for the Prime Minister. He is a member of all four cabinet committees and acts as vice-chair of the Economic Council.
Mr Rinne has been the Leader of the Social Democratic Party since 2014.
Between 2002 and 2014, he was Chair of several Unions including the Federation of Special Service and Clerical Employees, the Union of Salaried Employees TU, the Unemployment Fund Pro and the Trade Union Pro.
From 1987 to 1996, Mr Rinne worked as a lawyer at the Transport Workers’ Union AKT and founded his own Law Office in 1996.
Mr Rinne was born in 1962 in Helsinki. He holds a Master of Laws.
