The French Republic nominated by letter dated 12.10.05:

  • Ms Claire Waysand (Assistant Director for European Affairs, Directorate-General of the Treasury and Economic Policy, and Alternate Member of the Bank's Board of Directors) for appointment as full member of the Bank's Board of Directors to succeed Ms Odile Renaud-Basso, who has resigned;
  • Mr Benoît de la Chapelle Bizot (Head of European Coordination and Strategy Office, Directorate-General of the Treasury and Economic Policy) for appointment as alternate member to succeed Ms Claire Waysand.

On 14 October 2005, the Governors of the EIB were invited, by written procedure, to vote on these proposed appointments.

The decision to appoint Ms Waysand and Mr de la Chapelle Bizot was taken on 25 October 2005, the date on which the requisite majority of Governors' votes in favour was received by the Bank.

Ms Claire Waysand and Mr Benoît de la Chapelle Bizot have been appointed for the remainder of their predecessors' terms of office, which will expire in 2008 at the end of the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors during which the annual report, balance sheet and profit and loss account for the 2007 financial year are examined.
