Following the resignation of Mr Jürgen Ligi, Ms Maris Lauri was appointed Minister of Finance on 3 November 2014. She also becomes EIB Governor for Estonia.
Before her appointment, Ms LAURI held the post of Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister. From 1998 to 2011, she worked as an economic analyst at Swedbank Estonia.
Ms Lauri was an economic analyst at the Bank of Tallinn from 1996 to 1998 and she worked in the economic analysis department of the Bank of Estonia from 1994 to 1996.
Ms Lauri is a member of the Estonian Reform Party.
Ms Lauri graduated from Kohtla-Järve High School No 1.
From 1984 to 1989, she studied Economic Cybernetics at Tartu University and graduated as a mathematician-economist. She holds a MSc from Tartu University.
She has given lectures and has been part of the academic supervisory committee at the University of Tartu, Tallinn University of Technology, EBS, Audentes and Veritas College.
