Mr Pierre Moscovici has been appointed Minister of the Economy, Finance and External Trade in the new French Government.
Mr Moscovici becomes the Bank's new Governor for France.
He has been a Member of Parliament for the Doubs Department since 2007 and is a member of the Finance Committee in the National Assembly.
From June 2004 to June 2007, Mr Moscovici was an MEP and Vice-President of the European Parliament. He had previously served as an MEP between 1994 and 1997.
From 1997 to 2002, Mr Moscovici was France's Minister for European Affairs.
He lectures at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris.
Mr Moscovici holds Master's degrees in both economics and political science. He obtained a DEA (postgraduate degree) in both economics and philosophy. He is also a graduate of the Institut d’Études Politiques in Paris and the ENA.
