On 9th April 2015, Mr Sven Sester was appointed as Minister of Finance. He also becomes EIB Governor for Estonia, succeeding Ms Maris Lauri.
From 2011 to 2015, he was a Member of the XII Estonian Parliament and Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Finance Committee.
Between 2009 and 2011, he was both a Member of the XI Estonian Parliament and a Member of the Economic Affairs Committee.
From 2007 to 2015, he also served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Roosikrantsi Hotell Ltd.
In 2005, Mr Sester was a Member of Tallinn City Council and was the Chairman of the City Property Commission.
Between 1993 and 2015, he also held various positions on the Supervisory Board at Baltic Real Investments (Director, Vice-Chairman and Chairman).
Mr Sester holds a diploma from Tallinn University of Technology in Economics and Information Technology. In 2006, he completed several courses in national defence. As well as his native Estonian, he speaks English, Russian and Finnish.
