Ecuador and the EIB

The European Investment Bank has worked with Ecuador since 2006.

Ecuador is the fourth largest recipient of EIB finance in Latin America, after Brazil, Argentina and Panama. We fund important projects that support climate action, sustainable economic development, and the development of key infrastructure. Our commitment aims to implement environmental sustainability, improve the quality of life, as well as reactivate the economy and create jobs.

The EIB is also committed to achieving the European Union’s Green Deal objectives. Our financing in Ecuador helps to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change, with a clear and positive impact for local people.

We follow an integrated approach to combating health, economic and climate crises. As part of Team Europe, we support the fight against COVID-19 and its consequences. Our focus is on a post-pandemic green recovery: we aim to promote environmental sustainability, improve the quality of life, as well as reactivate the economy and create jobs in Ecuador.
