Description
Tailored funding and complementary partnerships
The creation of the ACP Investment Facility in 2003 reflected the recognition of the private sector as a key driver of sustainable growth, itself a determining factor in reducing poverty. This goes hand in hand with the EIB’s lending for basic infrastructure investments, largely from its own resources, as a prerequisite for private sector development. The IF enables the EIB to support the growth of local enterprises and foreign direct investment, especially by increasing SMEs’ access to risk sharing instruments and term finance.
In the ten years since its inception, the ACP Investment Facility has provided lending of EUR 3 363m in Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific.
