This week, we inaugurated the EIB Group office in Malta. And this means we will soon have dedicated offices in the 27 Member States of the European Union to help bring projects forward and strengthen the impact of our investments on the ground.
In Valletta, the president of the European Investment Bank Group Nadia Calviño met the Prime Minister, Robert Abela, and the finance minister. They discussed Europe's strategic priorities and support to Malta's economy, and visited the EIB-financed Valletta City Gate and Parliament building.
In Coruña, Spain, president Calviño participated in the business leaders CEDE congress on artificial intelligence to talk about green technologies and Europe's leadership in the digital area.
The implications of artificial intelligence on our lives and work was the subject of an inspiring discussion with EIB Group staff and AI expert Elin Hauge at our headquarters.
We announced new support for the construction of biomethane plants in Spain, post-earthquake reconstruction in Italy, a university in Latvia, and record financing for small businesses in Poland.
And in Ukraine, we opened a new paediatric infectious disease department in Zhytomyr Oblast, providing vital health care support for the region's children.
