Description
The EIB Group PATH Framework Version 1.2 of November 2023 is an updated edition of The EIB Group PATH Framework first published by the EIB in October 2021 and subsequently updated by Version 1.1 of October 2022. Version 1.1 was updated with an additional paragraph (4.28) in support of the REPowerEU plan. Version 1.2 of November 2023 reflects adjustments to the framework made as a result of the Mid-term review of the EIB Group Climate Bank Roadmap, conducted during 2023. This includes an extension of the timelines to meet the PATH framework’s reporting requirements and of the REPowerEU exemption to countries outside the EU, clarification of the scope of the incompatible activities undertaking and recognition of reporting requirements under new Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/2453.
Under the Paris Alignment for Counterparties framework, the EIB was the first multilateral bank to consider not just the climate impact of the projects it finances, but also the wider activity of borrowers. The framework helps ensure that not only projects financed by the EIB are Paris aligned, but also that the counterparty is taking steps towards decarbonizing business activity and strengthening resilience to climate change. Under this initiative the EIB offer’s technical support to higher emitting corporate borrowers and financial intermediaries to help them meet the goals of the Paris Agreement and deliver a more sustainable future.
