Objectives

Feasibility study to establish the viability of extracting strontianite ore at Kangankunde (Malawi) and processing it into strontium carbonate.

The study itself will consist of resource/reserve base certification, mine planning, metallurgical test work including pilot tests, design of the plant, preparation of an EIA, costing, market and marketing analysis, and compilation of all the information into a comprehensive and bankable study.

Feasibility study will include a full-scale environmental impact study for later submission to the relevant regulatory authorities should the study lead to the industrial project stage.

Direct negotiation for lead contractor by main financing institution, South African Export Development Fund (SAEDF). EIB funded subcontracts will follow EIB's procurement rules.
