Description
Objectives

The project contemplates the co-financing of the multi-sector investment programme of the city of eThekwini 2005-2008 (former Durban), which includes capital expenditures for infrastructure (water, electricity and roads) and housing.

Improve the safety and the quality of life of citizens, and redress observed social and spatial inequalities.

Environmental aspects
Procurement

The project has no significant environmental impact. Given the likely nature, scale, and location of sub-projects, it is unlikely that an EIA will be required in most cases.

Procurement will be in accordance with the Finance Management Initiative launched by the National Treasury, and consistent with EIB’s usual procurement guidelines.
