Summary sheet
The project will support the promoter's strategic plan to extend its power transmission cable production at three of its European plants, in Finland, France and Italy. In detail, the plan comprises new manufacturing lines for submarine extra high-voltage cables and for onshore high-voltage cables as well as multiple upgrades on a line for onshore high-voltage cables.
By expanding the promoter's capabilities in manufacturing "state-of-the-art" power transmission cables, the project aims at meeting the growing demand in the renewable energy sector, in particular for offshore wind. As such, it supports the green transition and continued growth of renewable energy generation.
The activity does not pertain to either Annex I or Annex II of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Directive 2011/92/EU (amended by Directive 2014/52/EU) and thereby an EIA process is neither mandated nor subject to a screening decision. However, the different investment schemes have been subject to screening decisions by the competent authorities in Finland, France and Italy and have been screened out, except for one screening decision - which is still pending - that has been recently submitted for an investment starting in 2026.
The promoter has been assessed by the EIB as being a private company not being subject to EU rules on public procurement or concessions.
