Description
The project concerns investment in the Mohammédia power plant located on the coast 25 km north of Casablanca, which was built in the early 1980s by Ansaldo on the basis of an EDF design. The plant has an installed capacity of 600 MW (15% of the country’s electricity) generated by four 150 MW steam turbines (two coal-fired and two heavy-fuel-oil-fired).
Objectives
The new schemes aim to reduce the plant’s environmental impact and improve its performance. They will serve to eliminate operational inefficiencies through modification of the boiler design and improvement of coal pulverisation capacity.
