Under this proposal, EIB and KfW would establish a new jointly sponsored platform mainly dedicated to the purchase of carbon credits from Programmatic CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) and/or projects/programmes in Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

Environmental aspects

Fund II operations will bring global environmental benefits by supporting projects that help mitigate climate change. The individual schemes to be financed are small relative to the scale of the entire energy and environmental project markets but the social and economic impacts in LDCs are very important.
