Environmental aspects

The EIA process was executed for the full reconstruction of the Přerov railway node, not just this first phase seeking EIB finance in accordance with the applicable legislation, notably the Habitats Directive 92/43/EEC and the EIA Directive 97/117/EC as amended, transposed in the Czech Republic into Act 100/2001 Coll. on the Environmental Impact Assessment. The competent authority assessed that the project did not require an EIA and issued the EIA negative screening decision in June 2005.

Potential adverse identified effects will occur mainly during the construction phase, including air & light pollution, noise & vibration. These and other impacts have been assessed as minor and temporary. Mitigation measures have been defined.

Procurement

EU procurement directives (2004/17/EC, 2004/18/EC) have been transposed into Czech legislation by the Act No. 137/2006 Coll.

The contract notices for the international open tender were published in the Official Journal of the European Communities (OJEC).
