Meeting No. 579 of the Board of Directors
In accordance with its Rules of Procedure, the EIB convenes the meetings of its Board of Directors at least six times a year. In line with the EIB Group Transparency Policy, the Bank publishes:
EIB President Hoyer participated alongside the leaders of the EU institutions, the Heads of State or Government of the 27 EU Member States and the Heads of State or Government of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, at the Eastern Partnership Summit.
President Hoyer joined the leaders in conveying a strong commitment to work together to support a resilient, inclusive economic recovery and sustainable investment in the Eastern Neighbourhood.
EIB President Werner Hoyer said: “We look forward to the opportunity to further strengthen ties between the European Union and the Eastern Partnership and reinforce EIB’s role as one of the biggest multilateral investors in Eastern Partnership countries. We want to remain a reliable source of financial and technical support for the Eastern Partnership and advance the climate action agenda in the region.”
The Eastern Partnership aims to reinforce the political association and economic integration of the participating partner countries with the EU. Its work is based on core fundamental values which all partners are committed to upholding:
The summit reaffirmed and reinforced the joint commitment to foster stability and cooperation, to pursue necessary reforms, to define common future priorities, and to mobilise resources to meet the major challenges at hand.
Joint Declaration of the Eastern Partnership Summit
Charles Michel, President of the European Council, chaired the meeting. President Michel and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, represented the EU.
Key side events
The Eastern Partnership goes beyond relations between governments. Young people, local authorities, civil society, media, businesses and other stakeholders were closely involved in dedicated summit side events.
