Following the resignation of Mr Michalis Sarris, Mr Harris Georgiades was sworn in as Minister of Finance on 3 April 2013. Mr Georgiades also becomes EIB Governor for the Republic of Cyprus.
Before his appointment as Minister of Finance, Mr Georgiades served as Minister of Labour and Social Insurance as from 1 March 2013.
During the period 2009-2013, he was Press Spokesman of the Democratic Rally and also Deputy Head of the Economic Policy of this party.
In May 2011, he was elected as a Member of the Parliament and served as a Member of the Committee of Financial and Budgetary Affairs, the Watchdog Committee and the Committee of Communications and Public Works.
Mr Georgiades, born in 1972, holds a BA in Economics and International Relations and an MA in European Studies from the University of Reading, UK.
