Objectives

Multi-beneficiary intermediated loan to fund the lending activity of Bank Ochrony Srodowiska S.A. to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), mid-caps and public sector entities in Poland, with a dedicated climate action window

The project aims to provide financing intermediated by Bank Ochrony Srodowiska S.A. for small and medium-scale projects carried out by SMEs, mid-caps and public sector entities with a dedicated window for activities related to climate action.

Procurement

In accordance with the Bank's policy to ensure that sub-loans comply with the EU acquis, in particular in the fields of environment and public procurement, the Bank will require the intermediary institution to take all requisite measures to ensure that the environmental and procurement procedures carried out by the final beneficiaries for the sub-projects that the Bank finances comply with relevant EU legislation and applicable national legislation, provided that it is in conformity with EU rules.

Poland: EIB supports small and medium-scale pro-ecological investments with BOŚ under Juncker Plan

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has provided to Bank Ochrony Środowiska (Bank for Environmental Protection, BOŚ) a EUR 75m loan supporting small and medium-scale investments carried out by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), mid-caps and public sector entities in Poland. 40% of the loan is expected to finance projects contributing to Climate Action. The EIB facility is guaranteed under the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI), a central element of the Juncker Commission’s Investment Plan for Europe.

This is already the EIB’s sixth multi-beneficiary intermediated loan to BOŚ, whose intention is to make the funds from this loan available in the third quarter of 2017. EIB financing is aimed at supporting projects in [...]
