Description
Objectives

The project will finance the development of a new technology providing pharma companies access to utilise the clinical information embedded within Electronic Health Records (EHR)

The aim is to support the development of a new technology providing access to utilise the clinical information embedded within Electronic Health Records.

Additionality and Impact

The project concerns artificial intelligence (AI) and real-world evidence data (RWE). As such the projects fits into Digital health. Digital health is a broad concept that, among others, covers the health data analysis and application in systems based on big data, for instance for epidemiological research and AI-enabled diagnosis support. The current project will develop solutions related but not limited to analysis of RWE data from electronic health records (EHR). Digitalisation is crucial to EU's competitiveness, where EU is aiming to catch-up with other regions of the World. This Project would further aid to accelerate adoption of digital technologies in the EU, related to R&D, healthcare and digital innovation. As such, through the financing of this Project aiming to facilitate increased investments in digital innovation the EIB is helping to bridge the digital gap between EU and US, e.g., and the digital divide within EU

Environmental aspects
Procurement

The promoter's investments concern research, development and innovation activities that are expected to be carried out in existing facilities already authorised for the same purpose and would therefore not require an environmental impact assessment (EIA) under Directive 2011/92/EU. Full environmental details will be verified during appraisal.

The promoter is a private company, not operating in the utilities sector and does not have the status of a contracting authority; thus the project is not covered by the EU directives on procurement. However, the Promoter's procurement procedures are expected to be in line with EIB's guidelines for private sector projects. Further details will be verified during the project due diligence.
