Latvia and the EIB

We have supported energy efficiency projects and upgraded Riga's water and wastewater facilities. We have promoted sustainable growth in tourism and agriculture, supported thousands of small and medium-sized enterprises, and advanced the country's green transition.

Additionally, we have helped municipalities become more modern and environmentally friendly. In Riga, we also financed new public transport systems and the University of Latvia's new campus.

President Calviño completes tour of 27 EU capitals

Over the past 12 months the president of the European Investment Bank Group, Nadia Calviño has travelled across the European Union, from Stockholm to Nicosia, Vilnius to Valletta, Madrid to Zagreb, listening to the views of finance ministers, prime ministers and presidents, engaging with partners, gaining insights into current projects financed by the European Union and giving shape to the EIB Group’s 8 strategic priorities.

Latvia and the EIB

We have worked in Latvia since 1994, modernising the country's infrastructure and supporting small businesses and higher education. We have supported energy efficiency projects and the upgrade of Rigas water and wastewater facilities. We have also helped bring sustainable growth to the tourism and agricultural sectors, and supported thousands of small and medium-sized enterprises, while simultaneously promoting the country's green transition. We helped municipalities become more modern and environmentally friendly. In Riga, our financing also supported new public transport.
