    Description

    The project comprises more than 30 transmission schemes and several thousand technically independent distribution schemes for reinforcing and extending ESB's transmission and distribution networks covering the investment period 2001–2003. 

    Objectives

    To cater to growing demand, allow connection of new power stations, improve quality and reliability of supply, reduce technical losses and comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

    Environmental aspects

    The project is subject to the EU directive concerning Environmental Impact Assessment and is expected to comply with the relevant national legislation and EU Directives regarding environmental protection. Overall, the environmental impact of the project is expected to be limited and acceptable.

    Procurement

    Procurement procedures are subject to EU Directive 93/38/EU and the promoter has implemented detailed procurement procedures that comply with the said Directive.
