    Description

    The project represents the first phase of the future exclusive lane urban transport network (three lines with a total length of 35 km) of the Nice conurbation. It comprises the construction of tramway line 1, a bus lane and the future tramway line 2 in the Nice conurbation (18 km in total).

    Objectives

    The project forms part of the Urban Transport Plan adopted on 21 December 2000 by the relevant local authorities and aims to enhance the attractiveness of public transport in urban areas, thus helping to improve the environment and quality of life.

    Environmental aspects

    In accordance with national legislation, the project has undergone an environmental impact assessment as part of the Public Interest Declaration process. Once completed, it will help to reduce the various types of nuisance associated with car traffic, while at the same time benefiting local tourism and making it easier for people to get around.

    Procurement

    The Communauté d’Agglomération of Nice Côte d’Azur is a body subject to EU procurement directives. All works contracts financed by the Bank will be issued in line with the provisions of European Union law.
