Description

The project consists of the expansion of container / liquid bulk facilities in the port of Tarragona, Spain.

Objectives

The project will promote sea transport as an alternative to other modes and will thus contribute to transport sustainability.

It includes the following 2 components:
- Expansion of “Muelle de la Química” and,
- Expansion of “Muelle Andalucía”.

Environmental aspects

The project consists of an expansion of current terminals within the port area. The competent authority has decided that the project would fall under Annex II of the EIA Directive and on the basis of Annex III of the EU EIA Directive 85/337/EEC, amended by Directives 97/11/EC and 2003/35/EC, that no EIA was required.

Procurement

The Bank will require the promoter to ensure that contracts for the implementation of the project have been / shall be tendered in accordance with the relevant applicable EU procurement legislation (Directive 2004/17/EC), with parallel publication of tender notices in the EU Official Journal, as and where appropriate.
